Henderson County is approximately 378 square miles in area, and the average elevation is 2,200 feet above sea level. The average temperature is 71 degrees in summer, 39 degrees in winter and the average annual rainfall is 48 inches. Hendersonville is included in a book, The 100 Best Small Towns in America by Norman Crampton. The primary criteria used included population, per capita income, number of serious crimes, percentage of population with four year college education and local spending on education.

Location
Located 33 miles from Asheville, N.C. and 39 miles from Greenville, S.C. on a scenic mountain plateau 2,200 feet above sea level. Hendersonville is cradled between the Great Smokies and the Blue Ridge Mountains, a region titled the "Land of the Sky".

Economics
With an economic base consisting of a well-balanced mix of industry, agriculture, tourism and retirement. Hendersonville today is attracting people of all ages with interests ranging from career advancement and business opportunity to the location of congenial surroundings for the retirement years.
